Come along on Saturday 20th October for a day trip to the historic city of Oxford!

About the day
We will travelling by coach to the historic city of Oxford!
Its name means 'ford of the Oxen' (where the river is low enough so Oxen can cross the river). It is know today as The City of Dreaming Spires and is famous the world over for its University and place in history.

There is evidence of teaching in Oxford as far back as 1096, making it the oldest university in the English-speaking world and the world's second-oldest surviving university. It grew rapidly from 1167 when Henry II banned English students from attending the University of Paris. After disputes between students and Oxford townsfolk in 1209, some academics fled northeast to Cambridge where they established what became the University of Cambridge. The two "ancient universities" are frequently jointly referred to as "Oxbridge".

The university has educated many famous writers and prime ministers and it's also been featured in many T.V shows and films, including Harry Potter.

We will be having a guided walking tour of the city which includes a tour of Trinity College. We will also be visiting the Ashmolean Museum, which after being founded in 1683 is the oldest museum in the UK.
