Re: [ljc] Developer Profiles

I'd like to see something distinct and separate.

Don't we want the profiles to be about community rather than career?

We can all use Linked In or Stack Overflow or CW Jobs or wherever to maintain a CV and list our credentials to show prospective employers.

When I go to LJC activities it is not to progress my career, it is to reach out and find others who share my passions.

I'd like to see JUG profiles as something that can help people pursue their passions, not just progress in their profession.

I think we should think about more than just throwing some information on a page.  Instead perhaps we should have something that provides a clear path for those who want to get involved beyond just attending meetings.  Allow them to not only record what they have done, but also to express their interests in what they would like to achieve.

For example: "I'd like to give a lightening talk on such and such" or "I'd like to get involves with the JCP".  That would serve to help organisers find interested people.

We could put together a series of practical workshops where we decide on what we want, choose the best technology and get it up and running.  It would be fun.
