Dear Java RT Friends,

Accept apology for sending half cooked mail.

I'm trying to design a system and need your valuable views.

1. System 1 has to execute REST based requests to fetch data from 3rd party REST services.
1.1 Configuration of these REST based URL and , frequency of Calls , Time Out and couple more parameters
are defined in  System 2 via flex based GUI.

                1. What is the based way to pass configurations from System 2 to System 1? I am thinking to  make system 1 shall poll for the configurations from system 2 on regular intervals as GUI will have CRUD support for configurations.

Can you not reconfigure you GUI to send the configuration directly to system 1? If not  you could have system 2 poke system 1 with new conf when it is received.

                1. What shall be mechanism to send response back to system 2? I am thinking to POST via REST service of system 2.

                2. How to make aware system 2 that system 1 is down? Is REST based POST API will it be good idea to send Heartbeat Message over REST post API?

Why does system 2 need to know that system 1 is down?
