THE OFFICIAL TEXAS BLUEBONNET TRAIL RIDE

  • Apr 19, 2014 · 8:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Our Grand Master (Randy) and Assistant Organizer originally led this annual event.  Everyone will enjoy the 40 mile Bluebonnet Trail.  We are going to split up into two groups for sake of safety.  Jim will lead one group and Gary will lead the other but we will cover the same route.  See you there.

This is going to be an amazing day with sixty people riding.  There is no way we are going to be able to bombard a restaurant with this size of a group.  Let's have a picnic.  Just bring a brown bag lunch and some drinks and we will picnic at Bluebonnet Park there in Ennis.  That sound like fun and will take less time out of our day.

My first ride with Lone Star Cruiser ( & in a large group as well) and I have to say it was a lot of fun! Sorry for posting late, but the flowers, smell and scenery made for a wonderful ride and the friendliness of everyone made me feel very welcome. Definitely looking forward to the next ride, and to think I was on the fence about coming out to ride Saturday because of Work...what was i thinking???? Work rather than Ride?!?!? :-)

Fantastic. Even with such a large group, things went smoothly. Our road guards really made the ride flow. The scenery and the aroma, wow. A+ for the brown bags or whatever color they were. Same goes for the weather and the riders. Thanks Gary and Jim.

My best estimate as of right now is we have about 37 bikes going on this ride. Two groups will work just fine. That's a manageable number in a group. We can always break up into three groups if need be for safety. I have emailed each of you all the route just so nobody gets lost. Make a copy to bring along. The Bluebonnet Trail Ride is a winding, narrow roadway filled with fields and roadside bluebonnets/wildflowers as well as a lot of people on bicycles, motorcycles, and in cars that are driving slowly to see the wildflowers with many stopping along the way to take pictures. We will be stopping for photo ops as well. The bluebonnets are supposed to have their peak growth the third week in April and this is it pretty much. Bluebonnet City Park is a new park with a lake and a great place for a picnic. By eating there and avoiding the restaurants, we can relax and have more time for riding. Bring your camera and your lunch. Going to be a great day with a lot of new faces.

We will be departing from the QT on Little Road in Arlington. We will be extending our ride including other places besides the Bluebonnet Trail and I think you all will enjoy it. Bring a picnic lunch, drinks, and a blanket and we will eat at the Bluebonnet City Park in Ennis near Lake Bardwell and then cruise along some country roads on the way home.

The Ennis Garden Club has announced that the Bluebonnet growth peaks about the third week in April so looks like this will be the very best time to see them. Our poll to change the date with 27 people participating shows that 70% want to leave the date as it is. We have 57 people going and we will divide the group into two groups with Jim and I leading the two groups. I did not want to disappoint the 30% who wanted to change the date so I am posting a ride on April 13th to the Bluebonnet Trail and Ennis Bluebonnet Festival.

    April 1, 2014

  • Gary

I rode from Walnut Springs to Meridian, Whitney, Lake Whitney, Morgan and back to Walnut Springs on Sunday and the Bluebonnets were blooming along the roadsides. I stopped by the campground to visit Jim and Carla but missed them. Today, I rode from the ranch and back to Fort Worth by way of Brazos Point, Cleburne, and Burleson. There were lots and lots of blooms. Pretty soon we will see Firewheel, Indian Paintbrush, Blackeyed Susan, Prairie Thistle, Purple Sage, and all of the also blanketing the roadsides. I'm getting the itch to head on the Texas Forrest Trail and to East Texas. With some showers, it looks like we will have a great Bluebonnet Trail Ride.

So am I correct in assuming that I am on a waiting list. If so when do we find out if we are good to go?

    March 27, 2014

    • Gary

Wynell, we are dividing the group into two groups. The most we like to have is 40 per group. That becomes unsafe and unmanageable. There is no limit currently since we are not approaching 80 riders so you are good to go. Glad you are going with us.

      March 27, 2014

    • Wynelle

      I am really excited. Thanks
