If you're interested in lighthouse history, preservation, tours, cruises, or anything lighthouse-related, you'll enjoy hanging out with us. We'll be doing a variety of events and meetings, including guided walking tours, history cruises, lighthouse-themed bicycle rides, lectures, and more. We'll also need volunteers to help organize and run these events, do research, help with preservation efforts and more.
This time, we will visit the oldest lighthouse in NY (the fourth oldest operating Light in the nation). We’ll be getting a tour with Henry Osmers, the Montauk Point Lighthouse historian and author of twice as many lighthouse books as me. Henry is a great guy and an enthusiastic history nerd. I promise this will be a great tour.
We’ll meet in the parking lot at the State Park, across the street from the lighthouse, about 1:45. Please allow plenty of time to make the drive out there.
If you intend to climb the tower, please wear shoes appropriate for the climb.
The Long Island Chapter of the US Lighthouse Society is not charging a fee for this tour, but there is a fee for the lighthouse itself, which you will pay at their gift shop prior to entry.
