I was with some friends last Winter, walking downtown Longmont and we passed by the Art Bar, which allowed some amazing string music to seep out into the night on Main St... We had to go in! and so we walked into an intense and beautiful jam, singing, high energy.... It was Amuni Folk Band. They were a powerful, joyful sound not easily stumbled into around here...
Check out some video on their facebook page (and give a like!)
"Amunì is a Longmont, Colorado based band of professional musicians who came together to share happiness and love through passionate Southern Italian tunes. Their performances are an involving time of pure fun, where audiences can't resist a healthy amount of dancing and singing along. Their repertoire spans from the most traditional to contemporary pieces of Pizzica, Tarantella and Tamurriata; from the most uplifting dancing tune, to the most dramatic serenade. Amunì's contagious vibe is meant to infuse American and international audiences with Italian love, and to spark in them some love for Italy.
Amuní means “let’s move”, “let’s get going” in sicilian dialect. It’s an invitation to join, to engage, to dance and sing centuries old songs whose messages are still loud and clear in our modern society."
