Intro to TinkerMill's 3D Printers
Class fee for TinkerMill Members is $20.00 Class fee for Non-Members is $25.00 In this intro class you will learn the basics of using TinkerMill's Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printers. We will begin by covering the basics of operating the FlashForge 3D Printers and Simplify 3D software. We will then move on to setup of the printer which includes changing filament, preheating, and finally starting a print. After that we will explore basic equipment maintenance that you may need to do before starting a print. Learning how to 3D print objects is surprisingly easy and empowering. You can 3D print replacement parts, design your own toys or tools, or use it for art. You can even 3D print flyable rockets!

What we're about

Public Group

Everyone wants a place where you can find the tools you need and, maybe, a group of people that know how to do interesting stuff and have amazing madskills that you can collaborate with to create new and wonderful things?

Yea... us too.

We want to put together a place like that in Longmont. This would be a place where art, technology, tools, teaching and collaboration come together into a true creative community.

What's often been called a Hackerspace or Makerspace in other cities with similar spaces.

Imagine one place with all the tools you need, or might need to really let loose your innovative side. Tools like work stations with 3D printers, Lasercuters, textile tools like computer driven embroidery machines, recording studio and video editing bay equipment, woodworking tools, soldering stations, electronics and robotic stations, welding equipment, a private cloud system (think: your own personal datacenter) and a classroom full of people all week long learning and teaching subjects ranging from synthetic biology to autonomous drones to arduino robotics programming to good costume design techniques.

Maybe even a class where your kids can learn to program.

If you're interested in helping to create a space like this, come join us and let's see what we can create together.

DEFINITIONS: HACKER: A hacker is a person who enjoys exploring the limits of what is possible, in a spirit of playful cleverness.

HACKERSPACE / MAKERSPACE: It is a community-operated physical space where people with common interests, often in computers, technology, science and/or art, can meet, socialize and/or collaborate. Hackerspaces can be viewed as open community labs incorporating elements of machine shops, workshops and/or studios where hackers can come together to share resources, tools and knowledge to build and make things.
