NASA's Sample Return Challenge would be a cool autonomous robotics project. Could Team TinkerMill be up to it?

I have a teleconference tomorrow and won't be able to attend, but here are some thoughts.

  • This is a repeat fo the competition held this year.
  • Level one looks pretty doable but only one team managed to complete it in this year's competition.
  • Level two, where the real money is much harder and not likely to be reached by a first time competitor. Those who competed this year will have a head start.
  • With a $3000 entry fee and the cost of building a credible entry this is almost certainly a money loser, but it would be a great experience.
  • “Certainly the game is rigged. Don’t let that stop you; if you don’t bet, you can’t win.” — Robert A. Heinlein
