Join us on our monthly bird walks with LA Audubon

Los Angeles Audubon is a 501( c) 3 nonprofit organization. Our mission is to promote the enjoyment and protection of birds and other wildlife through environmental education, conservation and habitat restoration. An important strategic goal is to provide after-school environmental education targeting under-served youth and their communities in the urban core.  The bird walks are free - but you can help support our youth education programs and conservation work by becoming a member.   We hope that you will become a member and we invite you to participate in our volunteer restoration work and other events that you will find posted on our website.

Member levels start at $25.00 - Thank you for your contribution!  http://losangelesaudubon.org/index.php/donations

Topanga State Park Birdwalk

1st Sunday of every month
Time: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Leaders: Ken Wheeland and Chris Tosdevin

Ken and Chris will lead participants through this beautiful and diverse coastal mountain area.  This is an ideal trip for a beginning birder or someone new to the area. . .

Directions: From Ventura Blvd, take Topanga Canyon Blvd 7 miles S. Turn E uphill on Entrada Rd.  Follow the signs and turn left into Trippet Ranch parking lot.  From Pacific Coast Hwy, take Topanga Canyon Blvd. 5 miles to Entrada Rd.  There is a parking fee, or park on Entrada Rd for free.  Meet in lower level parking area near the bathrooms. Contacts: Ken: (310)[masked], [masked]; Chris: (310) 455-1270.

Bird Walks are geared for the beginner/intermediate birders looking for an introduction to local birds and/or interested in reducing their carbon footprint by birding relatively close to home.  LAAS bird walks and field trips delve into identification, natural histories and interactions observed in the field. All are welcome on either event, but no pets or small children please. Appropriate for young bird watchers age 6 years and older.  For further information contact Eleanor Osgood at[masked], or call (310) 839-5420. Birdwalks DO NOT require advance sign-up, just show up at the specified meeting time and place.

ATTN: Photographers - Kindly keep a distance from the birds, so that all can enjoy viewing them.  Aggressive photography will scare off the birds.

Carpooling: Carpooling is encouraged!   If you wish to share your name and contact information on a carpool list for any "no sign-up required" events, call (323) 876-0202.  Leave your complete contact information including the date and destination of the event on the answering machine if there is no answer.
