We are the largest and most active Chess Social in California. Our environment is perfect for casual chess and competitive play. We have live music 8pm-2am every Tuesday and rotate our venues and musicians each week. We have been around for over a year and have met every week for 77 weeks. The LACS has been held at; The White Horse Lounge, Griffins of Kinsale, The Vertical, Der Wolf, Choza 96, the Old Towne Pub, the Continental Club, the Eden Garden, and more. We update the weekly location on meetup, instagram and our website. Chesssocial.org
We have photos posted on our Instagram @ Chess_Social
We meet every week, come and see the bar packed with chess players!
If you are a serious chess player, a casual player, or don’t know how to play, the Los Angeles Chess Social is the place to be! We are the only chess club with a large casual and competitive scene. We cater to all skill levels with optional tournaments that happen weekly while many others play casual games. We meet at the same time on Tuesday every week, and move the venue around to keep it interesting.
Utilizing our website, Instagram, and Facebook, we post our venue choice for each week. The LACS attracts an average of 80 chess players and musicians weekly, with special events that attract as many as 250 people.
Another unique attribute of the LACS is that we have a full music lineup made up of our house musicians. We typically have 4-5 bands or musicians performing each meeting that are chosen by the LACS based on feedback from the members.
For first time LACS visitors;
We welcome anyone to join our membership, or just stop by. The LACS rents out the bar that we meet at, so if you can find the venue, there will be no trouble finding us inside. All of the unmarked chess boards belong to the club and games are on a first come-first serve basis. (There are no personal boards or reservations for boards) Stop by anytime 8pm-12am to play a few games or just to enjoy the music! Members return to the chess social because of the great opportunity to make new friends and run into old ones. Last year, two members became engaged to people they met at the Los Angeles Chess Social!
Just make sure to double check the venue location before heading over! You’re guaranteed to be impressed.
