What we’re about

*Updated March 2024*

Hi! We would love to meet-up with you! Please read the following info to make sure this is a good fit for you:

Books: I pick books based on what's currently top picks, classics, and group choices. I also try to give more focus to queer and poc authors. Whenever possible, I invite authors to come over for an exclusive in-person Q&A. I make sure to pick books that are available as hard copy, Kindle and Audio Version. Yes, you should read (or listen to) the book before coming to the meet-up to discuss ;)

Women: If you identify as a woman and GLBTQ+, you are welcome to join.
Schedule and Info: We meet the last Tuesday of every month from 7:30-9:30pm at our home by Wilshire & Crenshaw. The evening schedule is as follows: 7:30-8pm mix and mingle, 8-9:30ish discussion, and 9:30-10:30pm is Book Club After Dark for more socializing.

I will also cross-promote other meet-ups that are queer and literary themed throughout LA.

A Little History About GLBC:
I started it in August 2011 and it's been going strong ever since! In addition to great conversations, creating a safe space for queer women and fabulous cheese plates, we've been responsible for long-lasting friendships, business connections, heated debates and even two marriages!

Reasons I wanted to start the LA Gay Lady Book Club: 1) Clearly a need! 2) I have lots of friends who read books and I want to read books with them; 3) I want to meet other book-loving, GLBTQ+ women!!

Joining Book Club:

  1. Be a gay lady 2) have a recent face pic in profile

Thank you and I look forward to reading and enjoying books with you soon!
Best,

Elizabeth Rules
