The Book of Joe by Jonathan Tropper

Right after high school, Joe Goffman left sleepy Bush Falls, Connecticut and never looked back. Then he wrote a novel savaging everything in town, a novel that became a national bestseller and a huge hit movie. Fifteen years later, Joe is struggling to avoid the sophomore slump with his next novel when he gets a call: his father's had a stroke, so it's back to Bush Falls for the town's most famous pariah. His brother avoids him, his former classmates beat him up, and the members of the book club just hurl their copies of Bush Falls at his house. But with the help of some old friends, Joe discovers that coming home isn't all bad--and that maybe the best things in life are second chances. Fans of Nick Horny and Jennifer Weiner will love this book, by turns howling funny, fiercely intelligent, and achingly poignant. As evidenced by The Book of Joe's success in both the foreign and movie markets, Jonathan Tropper has created a compelling, incredibly resonant story.

Since this will be a potluck, if you're planning to attend, please let us know what kind of food you plan to bring (side or main dish, salad, bread, dessert, etc.) in your RSVP. I'll send you the address about a week before the meeting.
Note: if you sign up and don't get an email with the location and details within the week before, please let me know at [masked].

Hi Everybody! I just sent out an email to those of you at right who said you're planning to join us, with the location and other details. If you don't receive it by this evening, please send me a message with your email address. Meetup email can be flaky and I don't have your direct address unless you send it to me. Also, it looks like we have some wonderful dips coming; it would be great to know what other kinds of food people plan to bring. The best way to do that is to click on CHANGE YOUR RSVP at right, write it in the comments section, and then click on RSVP. This will also confirm that you're still planning to come, so we can look forward to seeing you. Thanks!
