Group ride South along the beach and the Palos Verdes Peninsula to Golden Cove where we stop for coffee and return. This is a very scenic and pleasant ride. There are 3 optional dips on the outbound (hence the name Triple Dipper). The return can be hilly or direct - your choice. Nearly two thirds is on a class 1 bike path on the beach. The rest is on standard roadways that mostly include a bike lane.

Here is the standard route link on RideWithGPS

Here are the typical intensity related metrics of this ride assuming the *usual variation is done: 1) Duration - nearly 5 hours elapsed; 4 hours moving. 2) Length - about 45 miles from the ride start. 3) Elevation gain - about 1,900 - 2,000 feet. 4) Intensity - moderate.

* The usual variation includes three optional dips outbound (a more direct flatter route is an option); also some significant hill climbing through Palos Verdes on the return leg (again a much flatter more direct option is available).

There is no route sheet provided - just follow the group. This is an unsupported group ride so come prepared. Cycling involves significant risks so please never let your guard down, know and follow the rules of the road and always exercise safety. Please wear a helmet and bring flat tire repair gear (tubes, tire levers, pump and C02). Don't forget water and a snack.

If you will be joining us for the first time, be sure to bring a signed release of liability waiver and hand it to the ride leader or to a club member at the start. Download the waiver at

We occasionally send out a notice about a change to the route just to break the routine and visit interesting places. When that happens, we'll make every effort to provide the update for that week including route sheets and courses for upload to your bike computer if needed.
