We’ll start Margaret Graver’s STOICISM AND EMOTION next month (Sept. 25 @ 7pm). Message me if you want to take part AND need the reading.
Nice chat on Rufus, Seneca & Epictetus at Theory Meeting last night. Readings can be tough but we keep meetings comfortable & supportive
Due to unforeseen events, the theory meeting has been postponed to JULY 31st - same time, same place. My apologies for any inconvenience.
The walk/hike was a success! Looking forward to more - please let me know if you have suggestions of routes!
Please check out the most recent blog post on Plato's "Euthydemus" that includes some helpful questions on the dialogue (http://losangelesstoics.com/2019/07/09/platos-euthydemus/). It may prove useful to get folks primed for the meeting's discussion. Let me know if you have questions yourself!
Looks like we broke 100 members here (woo!). I expect the regular discussions to have 10-15 in attendance. Bicycle Coffee should have space.
I want to plan a hike/walk through Elysian Park for the Stoic “Month of Practice” (July). What date works best? July 20th or July 27th?
I was considering changing “members” to “prokoptontes” as the Stoics referred to themselves - Greek for “those who make progress.” Thoughts?
Let's commemorate the death of Socrates on Thursday (June 6th). [http://losangelesstoics.com/2019/05/31/commemorating-the-trial-and-death-of-socrates/]
Just advertised the theory subgroup. I used to just announce it during the regular meetings but decided to open it up to everyone!
