Two Requests- Chicken Presentation for 4-H, useful tool tips

From: Lora

Hi All,
A couple of more things. I don't want to inundate people with too many emails so I'm condensing these two requests into one email.
First, Christine Heinrichs of The Society for the Preservation of Poultry Antiquities is writing an article for Urban Farm Magazine on tools and products for chickens and poultry.
She says, 'perhaps you and the other members of your group can help me. Urban Farm magazine has asked me to write its new products column, Curbside Tools, for the Spring 2011 issue, on poultry products. I'm looking for useful products that are helping you with your flocks, with an eye to the small space constraints of urban chicken keepers.

What have you found recently that helped you? Any kind of equipment -- waterers, feeders, lights, portable pens, etc. -- that is working well for you and other chicken keepers would want to know about.

Please send to me by the end of August. Thanks for your help!'

Second, Dawn Fuller is coordinating a 4-H pet symposium at our local cooperative extension office (on Cesar Chavez in East L.A., easy freeway access.) I have another event that day, so I can't participate. Would someone be able to go and talk to kids about chickens and perhaps bring chickens too?
From Dawn-
Each year, Los Angeles County 4-H (part of the UC Cooperative Extension), holds a 4-H Pet Symposium for local youth and their families to come learn about various aspects of responsible pet care. In addition to pet care information, they can learn about community service opportunities, careers related to pets, and about being responsible citizens in regards to the animals in the community around us. Pet care vendors, animal rescue groups and various educational groups will have informational display tables for both kids and adults to learn from.

This year the kids have really been asking for a speaker on Chickens! We would like to invite you to host a free table and provide a special guest speaker for our main program on the topic of Chickens and Their Care (that portion is 20 minutes), on Saturday, October 9, 2010, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We would be so thrilled if you or someone from your club could make it (and bring some of your lovely chickens!). A table, chairs and lunch will be provided. Having you here would be an exciting treat for them that they would not forget any time soon!
Please contact Dawn at [address removed] if you would be interested in participating.

There is so much chicken enthusiasm out there right now. This is great.
