PAIR UP AND LEARN TOGETHER
What we are currently reading:
The Ruby Way: Solutions and Techniques in Ruby Programming
By Hal Fulton
Heralded as a great "how-to" book for effective Ruby programming with over 400+ examples that answer the question: "How do I do this in Ruby?"
We'll be going back and forth between the book, the Ruby Standard Library and our own resources.
SEPT 8th - Chapter 8
SEPT 15th - Chapter 8 / Finishing up ...
Goals: Practice.... until its 2nd nature.
Each week, based on our momentum we'll surge forward or take our time to practice and truly understand to the core. Most likely we'll be working on one chapter every 2 weeks, giving all of us time to read, practice and master the concepts.
What to Expect & How to Prepp
- Read the chapter we're working before our meetup!
- If you've already read the book, come mentor and pair.
- Be ready to ask questions or share insights.
- Highly encouraged to purchase the book.
- Practice with Exercism.io, Repl.it or Cloud9. All are free.
All are welcome and at every level. We try to steward the night toward the the right level to keep everyone engaged and practicing.
FYI this is the SAME MEETUP, DIFFERENT URL:
West-side Rails Study Group
Los Angeles Women's Ruby on Rails Group
Let's remember that we're not all at the same level. It's highly encouraged for senior programmers to come and mentor. Even it its been only a few years, its truly priceless to someone who is brand new to programming.
