LOS ANGELES UNCUBED (job/recruiting/tech event)

This seemed like a fun, exciting jobfair / tech event that might be of interest to those who are job seeking, those who want to learn more about new startups or those who enjoy listening to tech talks with free drinks involved.

I was given a discount code for our members to receive 50% off the entry fee.
DISCOUNT CODE: MeetupTechVIP

You can get more info and buy tickets here: http://la.getuncubed.com/

Here is the official blurb:

Join us on the beach in Los Angeles as we convert the Annenberg Community Beach House into the home of L.A. UNCUBED, where we'll showcase the most exciting companies in the region, each sporting enormous, neon 'Help Wanted' signs. We're talking amazing job opportunities, superlative talent for hire, and the usual UNCUBED sideshow (music, drinks, freakshows...you name it). Apropos of the setting, we'll mix in some beach volleyball, a certifiably invaluable Lean Startup Machine workshop, and latest installment of the Paper Napkin Pitch competition (http://techcrunch.com/2012/06/21/napkin-pitch/), which continues to cause a stir.

It was a lot of fun. Lots of startups looking for talent. Really nice people. I got there around 3:30, and thought the parking would be all gone, but it was actually still really easy for my to park. What I would have done differently is probably eat right before I got there. The event lasted until 9:30 (if you stayed for the after party) and there wasn't really any food besides pretzels. Also, I would have had more business cards to exchange. Overall, I thought it was a great event and will definitely come again. One of the Wakefield people told me that they are thinking about coming back in Sept, so that should be fun. :-)

Hi Folks, What did you like about it the most? Anything you would have done differently? How was parking for you? I had 2 tickets but wasn't able to make it. Ah, next time...

Sadly I have to miss this to attend another job-seeking workshop series. I hope there's another event next year.

In the new year I will be looking for a job part time so I can continue studying. If anyone has any ideas or knows any companies I could approach. I am an intro. level ruby on rails. I am looking for a place where I can learn and contribute.
