Stepping down as organizer

L.A. historians -

It's become impossible for me to continue balancing the obligations of organizing this group with the other responsibilities in my life. For this reason, I'm stepping down as organizer. As my previous attempt at having co-organizers was unsuccessful, I have no one in place to seamlessly take over the group at this time. I'm removing myself as organizer on the website immediately. Any group member can step up and take over as organizer, as explained here:
http://www.meetup.com/help/How-do-I-step-up-to-become-the-new-Organizer-of-a-group-thats-closing/

Per Meetup's policy, if no one volunteers to take over the group in the next two weeks, the group will dissolve.

Conflicts with my "other" life also prevent me from attending the two remaining events on our calendar. For that reason, the lecture at LAPL this Saturday will become an unhosted event. If you still wish to attend, please don't stay home on my account. However, there won't be anyone there "corralling" folks together beforehand (unless you wish to do this yourselves). In addition, the book club meetup on Oct. 23rd is canceled. Or at least postponed, as the new organizer may wish to reschedule it once he or she takes over.

Thanks to everyone who attended or somehow contributed to the group's events. And best of luck to the person who takes my place. It's my sincere hope they will make this group far better than I've had the time to do myself.

Tom
