HTML for Bloggers and Content Managers

Purple Pen Productions presents HTML for Bloggers and Content Managers by Natalie MacLees If you've ever had a mysterious problem with the formatting of a WordPress post or were unable to update a complex page in your CMS because you didn't understand the HTML used to markup the page, then this workshop will be a big help. We'll go over the basics of HTML including:

  • What HTML is and where it came from

  • The correct syntax for writing HTML

  • How to add special characters

  • Structure of an HTML document

  • Validating the code you've written

  • Introduction to web standards

After this workshop you'll be able to understand basic HTML documents and edit and troubleshoot without fear. This is a hands-on workshop, so feel free to bring a laptop or netbook to follow along as we create and validate a basic HTML document. A computer is not a requirement - just helpful to have. Light refreshments will be served.

Once again Natalie nails it! by giving us simple secrets that turn our WordPress blogs into gold. Los Angeles is fortunate to have an incredible WP mentor who will (no doubt) be snatched up by some high-high-paying corporation to train across the U.S.

Natalie was extremely knowledgeable on the topic and patient in dealing with all levels in this Meetup. I found it extremely informative and hope to attend more meetups like this.

Very Good Presentation. I've been using HTML for 15 years and I learned a few things that I didn't know.

Natalie did a wonderful job of introducing HTML and putting it in context for bloggers. Though I knew some basic HTML going in to the meeting, I got a lot of clarification and a deeper understanding from Natalie's presentation. I'm sure for a lot of bloggers, it will make that "HTML" tab in Wordpress a lot less scary!
