Sometimes we also offer joyful singing or a chanting service. Please arrive by 5:45p.m. in order to give yourself a chance to sign in, mindfully settle in, and become acquainted with the Sangha. We begin our first 20-minute sitting meditation period promptly at 6:00 pm. PLEASE BE SEATED ON TIME and wear loose-fitting comfortable clothes THAT COVER YOUR KNEES AND SHOULDERS. PLEASE REMOVE YOUR SHOES BEFORE ENTERING the Meditation Hall. In addition, our Sangha continues to offer our presence, our practice, and our love and support to our Dear Teacher, Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, who, at the time of this writing continues to recover from a cerebral hemorrhage in Vietnam. Thay now resides in Plum Village’s Root Temple, Chùa Từ Hiếu, in Huế, where Thay began his monastic training in 1942. The Monastic Sangha offers their deep gratitude to our global community for our continued support for our dear Teacher, both materially and spiritually. Our generous support has given Thay immense strength for his recovery, and has helped make this trip to his homeland possible. We know how precious it is to still have our dear Teacher with us, radiating great courage, strength, and presence. And we know that Thay draws his energy from the daily practice of every one of his students across the world. He is present with us, every time we take a mindful step or mindful breath, and bring peace and joy to ourselves and the world around us. As Thay said on his second return trip to Vietnam in 2007, “I’ve been a monk for 65 years, and what I have found is that there is no religion, no philosophy, no ideology higher than brotherhood and sisterhood.” Thay reminds us that with solidarity and true brotherhood and sisterhood, everything is possible. The loving embrace of the global Sangha has allowed Thay to make great progress on his path of recovery, and he is invigorated and full of joy. We know that Thay’s body finds nourishment and healing in the mindful energy generated by our Sangha body during our practice together. So the members of the four-fold Sangha continue to practice together to care for our teacher, to care for ourselves, and to care for the present moment; by doing so we can assure a bright future that contains the love of community, sisterhood and brotherhood. We are deeply grateful for the supportive energy that everyone is sending our teacher, and invite you to continue doing. 💜💟💛💙💚💜❤💛❤💙❤💗💜💚❤💛❤💟💜💙❤💚❤💜💟 About Us: The Broward Lotus Sangha (BLS) is a Community of Mindful Living in the tradition of Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh. • WAKE UP FLORIDA MEETING

    BLS Davie/Weston/SW-Ranches

Dear friends, we invite you to join Wake Up Florida. Come and enjoy the energy of mindfulness with us as we practice sitting and walking meditation and mindful Dharma sharing. You're more than welcome to bring vegan treats to share and a mug to have some tea. :) We would like to expand our community of young mindfulness practitioners; Wake Up gatherings are a perfect opportunity to do so, get to know one another, and, with the energy of mindfulness, discuss possible peaceful solutions to the challenges and difficulties that we now face. For those who are not familiar with Wake Up, it is is an active global community of young mindfulness practitioners, aged 18-35, inspired by the teachings of Zen Master and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. We come together to practice mindfulness in order to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness and contribute to building a healthier and more compassionate society. Our goal is to create an opportunity for young people to learn Buddhist-based mindfulness practices that can help us in our daily life, including school, career, and relationships. Learn practices that can help us touch happiness and well-being, right in the present moment, and to heal and transform suffering and difficulties. We want to provide an opportunity for young people to reconnect with our spiritual and cultural heritage and help create a happy, healthy, and compassionate society. We are affiliated with the Blooming Lotus Sangha (also known as the Broward Lotus Sangha). Members of said sangha are always welcome to join our Wake Up Florida gatherings. Likewise, members and newcomers of Wake Up Florida are welcome and encouraged to join us in our Lotus Sangha meetings on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday of every month from 6-8 pm. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Wake Up - Young Buddhists and non-Buddhists for a Healthy and Compassionate Society is a world-wide network of young people practicing the living art of mindfulness. We share a determination to live in an awakened way, making a 21st century version of the Buddha's teachings known as the 5 Mindfulness Trainings our path and guiding light. The Wake Up network has grown out of the Plum Village Meditation Center. Venerable Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh's Plum Village Monastery has been offering retreats to young people for over two decades and the Wake Up movement was formally launched in Summer 2008. We are of all nationalities and of all faiths - or none. We don't 'believe' blindly in the Buddha's teachings on mindfulness; we each verify, through our own experience, that they truly work. When we practice mindful walking, breathing, smiling, sitting, eating, speaking, listening and being together, we experience peace and happiness - an oasis of relief from the confusion of daily life. At last, we have a chance to live more deeply, happily and meaningfully. There is joy, relief and healing in the present moment. We know that by coming together for an evening, weekend or short retreat, we can create a strong collective energy of mindfulness that can nourish our joy, transform our suffering, and develop our understanding, compassion, and love. PLEASE GO HERE FIRST: http://www.browardlotussangha.org/faq/ During this evening's practice we will enjoy sitting and walking meditation, as well as a dharma talk, discussion, and sharing.
