I have meditated on and off for years. At seminary in NYC I sat with a group on Sundays for an hour in the Chapel. I am not disciplined enough but I should be sitting daily.
Have read No Death, No Fear and Being Peace. Have studied Eastern religions and philosophies.
When I sit, I count breaths to 10, or use some of Thich Nhat Hanh's suggestions. Some Metta-meditation.
I have been flirting with mediation and Buddhism since my college days. I attended my first retreat at the Rochester Sangha founded by Philip Kaplow. I take my practice and the teachings more seriously now as a spiritual and moral guide to living.
I like this group alot and plan to continue attending.
