NEW YEAR?S CEREMONY
IN THE TRADITION OF ZEN MASTER THICH NHAT HANH
BROWARD LOTUS SANGHA
When: December 26,[masked]:00 PM
7504 Pembroke Road
Hollywood/Pembroke Pines, FL 33023
If the changes affect your plans to attend, please take a moment to update your RSVP. (You can RSVP "No" or "Maybe" as well as "Yes".)
In the Buddhist tradition, the passing of an old year and the beginning of a new one is celebrated in a sacred manner. The occasion of the New Year is a wonderful time to let go of our past?our anger, sadness, and resentment; renew and ground ourselves in the present moment?forgive, love and accept ourselves and each other as we truly are; and develop our positive aspirations for the future?a firm determination to learn ways to transform our suffering, deepen our practice, and help build a society in which there is time to enjoy and care for nature, smile to each other, and bring happiness to and care for one another.
Beginning at 7 PM, we will have sitting and walking meditation, followed by guided meditations and rituals to acknowledge the passing of the year 2008 and the beginning of 2009. These rituals, developed in Plum Village by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh, are done with the intention of facilitating our ability to ground ourselves firmly in the present moment, so we can recognize our spiritual roots, let go of the past, renew ourselves, and hone and develop our positive aspirations for the future.
After the ceremony, at about 9:00 PM, we invite you and your significant others to join us for tea, healthy vegetarian treats, and warm friendship.
COME CELEBRATE WITH US!
