What we're about

What We're About:

We're a group of social men and women in their thirties and forties who enjoy exploring Louisville. We strive to host fun events like happy hours, trivia, game night, concerts, festivals, sports events, etc. What makes us different from other groups on MeetUp? We are committed to having regular events and encouraging active membership. We also want everyone to feel welcome. We especially value communication and input from members.

A few basic rules before joining us:

- This group is for making friends first and having fun. We want to make sure all feel comfortable and safe. To protect our members we will not allow harassment or solicitation of any kind within the group

- Please have a clear picture of your face so that we can identify you at events.

- We have a "no show policy". If you RSVP that you are going to an event and do not change it to reflect that you will not be attending more than 3 times total in the course of your membership with us, you could be removed from the group. We ask that you please update your RSVP or message the event organizer if you cannot make it. This is so we can make sure to have an accurate amount of seats for all members at events. We also have agreed on a new cancellation policy. If you cancel less than 1 hour in advance, this will be considered a no show. Some events will require no less than a 24 hour cancellation. These events will indicate that in the details. If you cancel less than 24 hrs for these type of events, it will also be considered a no show and you could possibly be removed from the group if you do this repeatedly. Please update your RSVP as soon as possible to avoid any problems.

- We want active members, therefore if you are a member of the group for a full year and have not visited the event page in one year, you will be removed from the group. You are welcome to rejoin whenever you think you will have more time to be a part of the group.

- This Meetup group is FREE. However, many may not be aware that there are monthly subscription fees for the organizers. We ask that if you do become an active member and like our group, that you consider donating $5-$10 towards our subscription fees. These fees range from $10-15 every month and are currently being paid for by donations and by organizers. You can donate via PayPal. The link is: PayPal.me/loucrew

- Lastly, we know that we’ve had to change things up because of the virus and are doing more virtual events, but we ask that you only join if you live near the general vicinity of Louisville, KY. Thank you for understanding.

Do you have an idea or an event? Please share with us! We're always open to new ideas.

Virtual Book Club (Reese’s Book Club)

Online event

Join us for another night of great discussion! Check out the comments to see options for December. You may have heard that Reese Witherspoon started her own book club in 2017 simply called Reese’s Book Club. As of October 2020, there are a total of 43 books on the list. Two of those are Young Adult novels so we will exclude those for now. We still have a list of 41 great books to work with! I will nominate 4 books (starting from the beginning of the list) and we will eventually choose two books every month from 2 different genres. You can read one or both and we will discuss. All of the books can pretty much be divided into 5 genres so I will put their classification beside the title. I will post 4 books in the comment section every month. Please vote for your two favorites. Here’s the beginning of the list which will keep us occupied for the next 4 months. These are all the picks from 2017 and 2018: 1. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman (Contemporary Fiction) 2. The Alice Network by Kate Quinn (Historical Fiction) 3. The Lying Game by Ruth Ware (Mystery/Thriller) 4. Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng (Mystery/Thriller) 5. The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman (Contemporary Fiction) 6. This is The Story of a Happy Marriage by Ann Patchett (Non-fiction/Memoir) 7. The Last Mrs. Parish by Liv Constantine (Mystery/Thriller) 8. Braving the Wilderness by Brene Brown (Nonfiction/Memoir) 9. The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo (Unexpected Romance) 10. Erotic Stories for Punjabi Widows by Balli Kaur Jaswal (Contemporary Fiction) 11. Happiness: A Memoir by Heather Harpham (Nonfiction/ Memoir) 12. You Think It, I’ll Say It by Curtis Sittinfeld (Contemporary Fiction) 13. Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman (Mystery/Thriller) 14. Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton (Contemporary Fiction) 15. Still Lives by Maria Hummel (Mystery/Thriller) 16. Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens (Contemporary Fiction) 17. This is How it Always Is by Laurie Frankel (Contemporary Fiction) 18. The Other Woman by Sandie Jones (Mystery/Thriller) 19. One Day in December by Josie Silver (Unexpected Romance) If you’d like to read more about the books, here’s a link to all of them with brief synopsis: https://www.oprahmag.com/entertainment/books/g28750870/reese-witherspoon-book-club-list/ I will post the Zoom link on the day of the event and will personally message those signed up with meeting ID and password.
