Ken Alderson will present "What's Up? Indoor Astronomy That Helps You Find Celestial Objects in the Night Sky."

Ken Alderson is a self-educated amateur astronomer who serves as a NASA Solar System Ambassador and as president of the award-winning Louisville Astronomical Society (LAS). During his presidency, the LAS won the 2013 Astronomy Magazine Out of This World award, developed a forty-acre astronomy center in southern Indiana and established an Urban Astronomy Center at E. P. Tom Sawyer State Park here in Louisviile.
Ken serves on the advisory board of the Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium at the University of Louisville. He is also a docent at the Parklands of Floyds Fork in Louisville where he serves as Park Astronomer. He loves to take astronomy to the streets and enjoys presenting public outreach programs.
Ken will take us on a journey to the stars using Stellarium and the Virtual Moon Atlas -free downloads for your computer! Any time you turn these programs, you will see What's Up in the night sky over Louisville.
The presentation will begin at 7:30pm. Arrive any time after 6:00. Eat and chat between 6:30 and 7:30. The presentation and a Q&A session will be between 7:30 and 8:30pm.
You are welcome to come just for the presentation, but if you intend to eat, please arrive and place your order by 7:00pm. After the presentation we will draw names for door prizes. As always, we will pass the collection box at the end of the meeting to collect $2 per person to cover expenses.
We will be on the main floor of Over the 9 restaurant, downtown on 10th St., between Market and Main. It is just south on 10th from Caulfield's Costumes.
There is FREE parking in the Healing Place lot on the corner of Market and 10th. Note the signs say "Private Parking The Healing Place Only" but Over the 9 is allowed to use it at night. Street parking is free after 6 pm.
