Introduction

While everyone may be entitled to their own opinion, no one is entitled to their own facts.

What Paul is saying about this Meetup Group

We need a media response team to counter woo like this: http://m.courier-journal.com/features/article?a=2011304240002&f=1181 The corresponding www article is:  http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2011304240002 This type of article turns up regularly in our local papers and media outlets. We need a group that will go after these types of reports and present the empirical science-based evidence as to why these types of claims are bogus.   Recently there was an article on a local vet the used acupuncture on dogs. How much fun would it ti have been to debunk that? We could even offer our services to local media and have them contact us for a reasoned response.  I say we have a science cafe devoted to developing just such a program. It would be fun and would get more true skeptics involved in the LAS.
