Quick Start Chinese

7:00p-9:00p. We will be using the book: Berlitz Basic Mandarin Chinese that comes with a CD. It's good, snappy and hits what you need right away. ISBN# 9789812685087. It is a good book for beginners. Please get the book before class. The book is available at Borders and lists at $29.95. Our class will be heavy on encouraging speaking during class. We will do specifically cultural things from time to time a bit later. The book incorporates characters and I will cover them in each class to encourage you to gain at least a passive recognition of characters. If you are not able to get the book before class, then someone will be happy to share with you. I enjoy teaching and the Chinese language and really like to see students improve. I'll challenge you to make best use of the classroom time and learn quickly. Progress is satisfying. I lived in Taiwan for 6 years, but my Chinese is not stellar. Feel free to email me with any questions.
