Let us hike Millennium trail with Tim Preston
Millennium A strenuous fitness hike at Bernheim starting at the Garden Pavilion parking lot. Total distance is a little over 15 miles at a fast pace. It should take about 5 hours. This is a very challenging hike because of the distance, pace, and rocky trail. We'll meet and start the hike from the GARDEN PAVILION PARKING LOT, not the Visitor Center Directions to Garden Pavilion Parking Lot: Drive into the main Bernheim entrance from KY 245. Go past the entry station, take the first right (Arboretum Way - don't go left toward the Visitor Center) then take the first right into the Garden Pavilion Parking Lot. There is a $5 per car entry fee for the park. * Difficulty level: Very strenuous due to steep hills, pace and distance * Distance and pace: 15 miles, fast pace * Route: We will hike the trail clockwise * Regrouping: We will stay together the entire hike and take several short breaks * Special Populations: Humans, dogs, cats, rodents and marsupials are all welcome. * What to Bring: Water Trail map: click here (http://www.bernheim.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/forestTrail_millenium1302.pdf) Directions to Bernheim Forest from Louisville: Travel south on I-65; take Exit 112. What we're about

Welcome to the Louisville Fast Fitness Hikers!

We are a group -- primarily -- of hikers of various fitness levels who hike to get fit and meet other like-minded hikers.

Most fitness hikers engage in other fitness activities, like kayaking, trail running, skiing, backpacking, climbing, cycling/biking, and on and on, and this meetup welcomes & is intended to support also those affiliated activities.

We don't restrict the definition of "fast fitness". We leave that to the event leaders, and look to them to define that in the individual meetups.

In fact, we welcome & encourage "slow & social" hikers. Different hikes for different people at different times.

And we welcome hikers who want to schedule events in their other fitness activities.

Two disclaimers --

1. While this meetup is focused on fitness hiking & the satellite activities that most hikers do or eventually branch out into doing, its not intended to replace or compete with other meetups focused solely on those activities. The good news is that you can join as many meetups as you want.

2. This meetup is not officially affiliated with any other non-meetup group called the "Louisville Fast Fitness Hikers".

Thanks for reading & happy hiking, biking, kayaking, skiing, running.... we look forward to meeting you on the trail.
