Re: [Louisville-Vegetarian-Club] A Post-Meetup Note from your Event Host ^_^

Eden, thank you so much for organizing these dining outs.  I was supposed to come last night but had a last minute mini-emergency.  I love Funmi's!  I hope the general consensus was that it is good food.
Could I add a restaurant for January or later?  Earth Friends Cafe (New Albany) is opening on East Main in Louisville in January.  They are vegan friendly.  Excellent food.  They are generally open only at lunch but for a larger group I think they might open later.  I also love some of the suggestions you listed.  Haven't been to all yet.

Hello everyone!

It was very much a joy to me to see the success of last night. Over 15 people came! So many people seemed like they were enjoying themselves. When I looked around, it seemed most people were engaged with their seat mates. And I hope the appetizers tided you over well enough until when the meal finally arrived!

I passed around little slips of paper to get some feedback from the group and thought I'd share some of the suggestions mentioned there.

There has been interest expressed in having a meetup dine out at:

  • Roots which is the fancier sister resturant to Heart & Soy
  • Zen Garden - General Asian
  • Simply Thai
  • Nam Nam's (Vietnamese)
  • Maido's (Japanese)
  • Basa (Vietnamese)

The way I usually do these dine out's is that I visit these places in person to get a feel for the menu (IS there more than 3 vegan items?) and whether or not a large group can fit (without taking ALL of the tables!). I've been to Roots, Simply Thai, and Zen Garden, but have not been to the following three places, and will have to check them out before I list them as a location!

Anther suggestion that has been given are Potlucks. By the way, we have a ThanksLIVING potluck just this Saturday! Please look at the Meetup event page for that and register on facebook! If you don't want to pay the fee in advance on paypal, but still want the discount, be sure to email Sam or Michelle to let them know! Otherwise, there is a mildly increased fee if paid at the door. Still very moderate! Not very often you get access to all you can eat VEGAN buffet!

We also have a December 1st Chili Potluck coming up as well.

At meetups to come, I will try to introduce discussion topics and perhaps better ways of introducing everyone.

I look forward to more successful get togethers and do hope you join us in the future!
