As your hosts, since late 2017 we have offered quality, fun, and interesting outings.
We don't leave members behind on water outings. Inflatable boats are fine on most non-white water trips. These boats are slower than typical boats so you will have to work harder. For most people it is hard to keep up.
Everyone in the group gets along. Many of us have become good friends.
We often observe acts of kindness such as members helping others load and unload kayaks and even sharing snacks.
Some members have brought an extra boat for a new person wanting to try kayaking.
We are in our third year as Loudoun Kayaking and Social--in late fall 2019 we changed the named from Loudoun Kayaking as we branched out to host cold weather activities.
The group founder, Jim, kayaks year round but are our water events are held in warm weather.
For water outing:
Stand up paddle boards welcome.
You will need a kayak, paddle, and vest and only a few places we go rent them. We suggest that you buy a dry bag (less than $15 to store your phone and keys).
The purpose of this group is to kayak in and around Loudoun. For afternoon weekend outings the plan is to stop into a nearby pub, visit, and plan further outings. We will also do a few out of area trips as well.
Nonmembers are welcome to participate as well. We are also looking for members to help plan outings and share secret on where to kayak. Nova Paddle offers rentals but contact them directly for info.
In 2020, we helped arrange kayak rentals for two trips near Brunswick, MD. No one rented so for 2021 we are not going to make similar arrangements.
Kids are welcome to participate in events but they must have an adult responsible for them.
All kayaking is at your own risk and we will cancel events when the water/weather conditions are bad.
If there are any problems or concerns just contact Jim Byrne, 571-455-2349, he can take care of them. We have not really had any issues.
