  • Beginning Woodworking

    Loveland CreatorSpace

    $30.00

Beginning woodworking class to make a candle holder to take home. We will be using the mitre saw to cut the materials to length. I will have previously ripped the boards to width on the table saw before the class. We will then glue them together using the clamps and when set (about 30 minutes) can sand the edges using the belt sander. Finally using the drill press to make a hole for the candle. The intent is to limit the number of tools to a few to get started. As the series progresses, more and more tools will be used. I will demonstrate how use the tool and supervise the students in using them. The prerequisite is that they have have taken the shop safety class.

  • Beginning Woodworking Cutting Board part 1 & 2

    Loveland CreatorSpace

    $30.00

Make your own cutting board. Students will need to bring hardwoods (maple and Russian olive are the best, while oak may be used or a combination) to cut into strips using the table saw. It would be extremely helpful if they have attended the class on making push sticks. The push sticks will be used when using the table saw to cut the wood into strips. Surfaced four sides wood is required. The strips will then be glued up to construct the cutting board. The glued boards will need to be left overnight to cure. Part 2 will be same time on Monday, April 8 to finish the project using the planer and flat sander. Must have completed the LCS Safety class
