Make your own cutting board. Students will need to bring hardwoods (maple and Russian olive are the best, while oak may be used or a combination) to cut into strips using the table saw. It would be extremely helpful if they have attended the class on making push sticks. The push sticks will be used when using the table saw to cut the wood into strips. Surfaced four sides wood is required. The strips will then be glued up to construct the cutting board. The glued boards will need to be left overnight to cure.
Part 2 will be same time on Monday, April 8 to finish the project using the planer and flat sander.
