If anyone lost a memory card last night, don't worry, we found it and I'll bring it to the meeting Tuesday night.

Was there, but didn't sign up beforehand. I guess I was a crasher.

I broke both my 7D body and 10-22mm lens while I was on vacation in Maine/New Brunswick last month. Note to self: Make sure the tripod is steady before letting go of it!! Just got them back from Canon repair and this is an ideal opportunity to test them out.

Mark and I will be joining...just back from a road trip up into the mountains that we experienced "catastrophic" forgetfulness-left the camera bag with everything in it home on a chair in the living roomat home-discovered when we were approaching Asheville!! (OUCH!!!!) But gave Mark the opportunity to upgrade his 8mp Canon to an 18mp SL1. We were somewhat limited with lenses, but looking forward to learning all the "tricks" with the newest addition!!

Does anyone know where I can get the little device that holds the camera to tripod.

    August 12, 2014

Carol, I bought a little adjustable/bendable tripod with the adapter . I don't know about a plate but the adapter which looks like a little round cup with a screw that goes into the bottom of the camera fit my large tripod also. I can probably find it online. When did all the camera shops disappear? Please tell me about KEH.

Lynda, keh.com is a site that specializes in used equipment. If you're not sure you want something, it's a good way to try something out at a reduced cost from going full-tilt.

I'm not sure what piece you're looking for, though. Normally, there's a plate that screws into the camera and the tripod head. Cameras themselves usually don't attach directly to the tripod head as they would then be solidly mounted.

What model tripod did you purchase? Maybe that can help us guide what you need.

Hoping to get some tips on best settings to capture sunsets, lots to learn, open mind, really interested in getting the most out of my camera and equipment and hopefully meeting other people who are ready to share their knowledge.
