Funding Project for a simple web controlled robot

  • This location is shown only to members

  • Reschedule for January due to Holidays.

This will be a simple meeting to fund a single robot that is controlled by an equally simple web interface.  The purpose is to find out how much it cost to purchase a very simple but functional robot up and running and controlled by a web interface.   Eventually the goal will be to get several of these robots working so this is more of a proof of concept meeting.  We want to stay under 100 bucks per robot if possible .. use existing technologies and preferably a boxed product.  Then we'll have someone try and control it.

We will have refreshments pizza, Coke, water and ice for everyone that shows up.

The goal of this is to determine what it costs for a single unit of production and perfect that process just like the show "The Profit."  Once we get a working prototype then we can add more robots.  To fund more robots we can have either competitions or try and build something with the robots on a video farm.

Also to fund the project we were thinking about having some brainstorming sessions like Mars car wash.   Kick Starter projects or other ideas.

Message forwarded from a posting to the Santa Monica VR developers Meetup.
Objects in the mirror Mr. Bower are closer than they appear.
With the, evermore quickly approaching , returning to the moon landings missions coming up sooner than I'm sure at least NASA would like to think about. And even earlier still beginning here in 2017 already with Star Trek boldly launching a new spinoff and the continuation of The Expanse episodes and now this Nat Geo epic all in or nothing series about human exploration and short term habitation of Mars what a year this pre second Millennium second decade is shaping up to be ( or naut 2 B R2 ? ) .

That said why doesn't the ship's “Computer” industry think of website & app developers as their own independent mini Solar star “cyber”systems and develop a VR./cyber 3Dspace that provides these developers a place to showcase their VR.wares. Their VR. apps and/or animated interactive sites.
What I'm saying is this :

Google Playstore has app developers that ,some of which, have multiple ,or even numerous, apps .
Why doesn't the fledgling VR. industry have ,whether it be in Janus VR , or Locust Rift , or A-Team Hannibal The Cannonball Vive , or the upcoming VR. web-browsers/desktop-dashboards/UX.OS.'s from Google or MicroSofty (hint hint Mozilla) a 3D cyberspace where these nescient VR. app developers each have a app/ that showcases what other apps that they have developed and are purveying for the V isitors' delight? Just like their 2d websites do.
A place/space/app that shows what projects they're working on and what other products they already have to offer.

No, better yet, cross that previous above sentence out and make Mars a frontier for all the peoples of Earth.
Have the citizenry design missions for each of the varying terrains of Mars.
From gliders to ramjet explosive rocket drillers to my favorite :
War Of The Worlds style jumpin tripod big wheeled solar nuclear powered beam imager buggies that slowly explore down from the top of Olympus Mons.
That way all the vast landscapes of planet 4 can be visited.
From the ice craters of the poles to the CO2 runoff etched gullies of the frostless sea barren beds to the sparkly ruby rose fields of the rust deserts where old rovers go to reclimb to the volcanic ash flows of Ol Face T let freedom and curiosity rein and leave no stone upturned nor any cranny nook U.N.investigated .

    Mars Turquoise :

I'm sorry about the previous set of comments. I just wanted to spark viewers minds and imaginations.
“I didn't mean no harm by it. No, really I didn't govn'r. You just must believe me.”
A quote by Tiny Tim From Charlize Temple Dickens holiday classic turkey tale - Oliver Strudel

OK, all kidding aside, I really did want to stimulate the brain juices and percolate the thinking caps of meetup purveyors.
And along that line might I suggest the possibility of instead of sending a robotic land vehicle to Mars you instead send a dirigible.

Great ideas. Maybe we can also do some brain storming sessions and see what sticks. Having a wide range of ideas is exactly what we are trying to achieve during this next meeting. Having a useable result will hopefully be a side effect of this meeting but definitely not a requirement.
