• Hike Cap Gros

    Col de la Gineste

This hike will take us onto cliffs with a marvellous view of the ocean. The path is sometimes rather stony and there are many ups and downs. The length is around 15 km. We have made hikes on those cliffs before but at those occasions the weather was always bad. Let us hope for better luck this time. In the worst case we will need to take an alternative path. You can only go by but the pooling in the comment section has always worked out fine. Bring, water, a lunch, good walking shoes and adequate clothing.

  • MONTHLY ROUNDS IN MARSEILLE

    Loch Ness Pub

Ok, now we have a regular pub monthly meetup : the 2nd friday of the month...in the latest pub in Marseille ; the Loch Ness Pub, just off quai Estienne d'Orves. Welcome to everyone, and particularly to the newbies who will have an opportunity to meet the regular members....

  • AFTERWORK LOUNGE : THE SPRITZ SERIES

    Location visible to members

Ok I am sure you would like to relax from time to time after a looong day of work, in the company of your friends and whatever fresh drink you may fancy.... Ok then. Let's meet regularly in a classy Brasserie called "CAFE DE LA BANQUE" nearby Préfecture. Classy but fair-priced, and with an apparently endless provision of succulent aperitive biscuits and peanuts. It usually closes at 9.30 PM or so, just in time to bring on the night to another venue ...or simply to go home. Just ask ...you're free you know ? ;)

  • THE POOL FUNCTION The Return.........

    ACADEMIE DE BILLARD

Here we go again... The Académie de Billard is very close to the old port. We played there a number of times : it's cheap (drinks), beautiful and very Marseillais.... We come to play pool and have fun - some people play well, and lots of people just play for pleasure :-) It's not a problem, the club offers us the chance to pay pool, american and french billiards ...every game is different and I am sure we'll have a lot of fun. One table costs €12 for one hour for four persons max. It's a small group event (12 people or so), so RSVP quickly because we can't be too numerous !

  • Hike in the calanques

    Rond-Point du Prado

This hike will follow the seaside on sometimes very stony paths from Sormiou to parc Pastré. The distance is around 15 km with a possibility to do less for those who are tired. If the weather is nice we will stop for a swim. In case the calanques are closed we will instead walk along the city seaside from Point Rouge to possibly the old port. An eventual prohibition is announced early in the morning, so we will not know until Sunday In both cases the meeting point is the bus terminal at Rond-Point du Prado where we will take the bus number 23 at 10:00. Return by public transport, bus 19 for the case we end up at parc Pastré. Bring, water, at least 1,5 liters, a lunch, good walking shoes and swimwear.

  • Afro-house night at La Friche

    La Friche

Every Summer, the art centre at La Friche Belle de Mai organise rooftop events with DJs, live music, bars and food. We get to enjoy the view over the Bay of Marseille, a little fresh air, funky house music, street food, and a beautiful atmosphere :-) There is a public holiday on Thursday, so lots of people will be taking a four-day weekend - and we can enjoy an Afro-house night at La Friche. The DJs are the Angolan-origin DJ Satelite and the multi-cultural DJ Cheetah. It will be a great opportunity for some different beats, a relaxed atmosphere, and a night of dancing :-) You want to know more about the sounds we'll hear? Check out the postings on Soundcloud: DJ Satelite: https://soundcloud.com/djsatelite DJ Cheetah: https://soundcloud.com/cheetah-purple-swagg/dj-cheetah-on-rinse-fm-rinsefrance You should come to La Friche early - the event runs from 7pm to 11pm, and the rooftop can get very crowded. At previous events, the security guards closed the doors at 9pm, and some people weren't able to join us on the coolest rooftop in Marseille... :-) The rooftop closes at 11pm, and the party might continue after that... ;-)

  • King Kong

    MuCEM

Another night of open air cinema, at the MuCEM - and this time it's a classic horror film from 1933. This is one of the earliest "talkies", a classic story of how a giant gorilla is captured and taken to New York, before he breaks free and kidnaps the beautiful American actress. I don't really need to explain the plot, you just have to watch and enjoy :-) The story is typically 1930s (white Americans exploring darkest Africa...) and the special effects are very basic, but the tension is powerful and the music becomes a vital part of story development. Entry is free, and I expect there will be lots of people - these events are popular! I'll post a message on the event page when I get to MuCEM to say where we are sitting. I suggest that you bring cushions or something to sit on, the number of seats is usually limited. There will be a snack bar open, so you can get food and drinks, but there will be security checks - no glass bottles allowed.
