  • February Manchester Adobe User Group Meeting ...
Tonight is our regularly scheduled meetup ... Since we don't have our next series fully planned out yet, Charlie has offered to present some of his non R-rated photography. We were hoping to get back to the hands-on presentation that Kent had planned for us, but we're finding it difficult to schedule time in the labs. Tonight's meeting will be held in the President's Conference Room.

  • December Manchester Adobe User Group ... Holiday Party
Happy Holidays Everyone!! Sorry for the late posting of this, but we've had some challenges in arranging meeting space. Since we are unable to schedule the use of the computer lab until January we have decided to have a holiday celebration ... we may even have some books, etc. to raffle off!! In the spirit of giving, please consider bringing a non-perishable donation for the food bank ... just a small way that we can give back to the school for their generosity to our group. If you wish to contribute to the food for our celebration you are welcome to, but this is not mandatory! Please bring along some ideas for presentation topics that interest you. This will help us to build our next series ... Graphic Arts, Printing, and Web Design are all topics that we're hoping to have as upcoming series presentations. Before I forget ... Penny and I would like to wish each and every one of you a very happy holiday season. We appreciate your participation and support each month. It's been a tough year for many of us and we're looking forward to a great start for 2015!! We hope to see you all on Thursday evening!! Renae

  • POSTPONED >>> November Manchester Adobe User Group Meeting ...
UPDATE: (11/18/2014) Due to circumstances beyond our control we have to POSTPONE Kent's Hands-on presentation. We just found out this afternoon that we would not have a location to hold our meeting. We are hoping to be able to reschedule this presentation for December. Please stay tuned for more information. Hey Everyone!! This month we will be wrapping up Kent's Photography series with a hands-on session which will continue his discussion on Post Processing. We will be meeting in one of the computer labs on campus, so please check back here before November 20th. I will post the room number as soon as I know what it is. It's that time of year again ... so in the spirit of giving, the Manchester Adobe User Group would like to give back to Manchester Community College. They have been so generous, allowing us to use their meeting space. We are asking that everyone bring a non-perishable food item to this month's meeting. This is our way of giving back and saying "Thank You" to the college. ------------------------------------------------------------- In July we planned to focus our meetings on particular disciplines, professions or fields of activity. We began with Photography to be followed by Graphic Arts, Printing, Web Design, etc. Meetings were targeted towards beginners followed by more and more complex subjects within the discipline. Our intent was to introduce beginners into the subject and then bring them up to speed with Adobe products such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Touch, Illustrator, Indesign, or Dreamweaver. Our first discipline has been a wild success with great attendance and lots of interest. These are free meetings that are being held at Manchester Community College. You don't have to be a regular member of the Manchester Adobe User Group to attend. The first three meetings were as follows: August 21st - What is a Camera and How to operate your Camera September 18th - Getting it right in the camera & What makes an outstanding photograph. October 16th - Post Processing Part I ------------------------------------------------------------- November 20th will be Post Processing Part 2: Lightroom – Importing, Global changes, Local changes. From Lightroom to Photoshop and back - Bridge, Photoshop – Levels, Layers, Masks, Blend Modes, Selection tools, Clone/Healing tools, Content Aware. This workshop will once again be given by Kent Messamore. Kent has an extensive background in both Photoshop and Lightroom. He started in the early days of Photoshop (1991). His images have received awards in local, regional, and international competitions. He has taught computers, studio lighting, model posing, lighting with flash, and photo imaging, extensively at workshops for Camera Clubs, Studios, and Meetup Groups in the local area. For the past six years he has taught Digital Photography at Manchester Community College. Kent doesn't just teach "what the tools do" ... he brings workflow experience into the classroom. We really hope you can join us for this last session of our Photography series!! It's going to be HANDS-ON!! Please remember to check back before the meeting on November 20th to find out the exact location of our meeting. Hope to see you all very soon!! Thanks, Renae

We had planned to cover Post processing in the third meeting however we had an opportunity to gain access to one of the Manchester Community College Computer rooms and decided to split it into two sessions ... the first will be a presentation and the 2nd will be hands-on! These sessions will be: October 16 - Post Processing I: Commonality of Global Adjustments - Adobe Camera RAW, Picasa, Snapseed, Camera +. Common Image processing elements – Tone Curves, B&W Conversion, Sharpening, Noise Reduction, Vignetting, Cropping, Local Adjustments, Healing & Cloning (using Lightroom as an example). November 20 - Post Processing II: Lightroom – Importing, Global changes, Local changes. From Lightroom to Photoshop and back - Bridge, Photoshop – Levels, Layers, Masks, Blend Modes, Selection tools, Clone/Healing tools, Content Aware. If arrangements can be made with MCC this meeting will be conducted in one of the Computer Rooms with access to computers. This workshop will be given by Kent Messamore. We really hope you can join us for the next two sessions of our Photography series!! We will be meeting in Room 267. Please be aware that there is a meeting scheduled right before ours, so we cannot get into the room until 6:00pm. Look for myself, Penny or Kent before entering the room. Thanks, Renae

  • August Manchester Adobe User Group Meeting ...
Over the past few years, we have had a few new members attend their first meeting and not come back, as they thought our presentations were over their head. For our next three meetings we will attempt to rectify that. Our plan is to focus our meetings on particular disciplines, professions or fields of activity. We will begin in August with a Photography series followed by Graphic Arts, Printing, Web Design, etc. Meetings will be targeted towards beginners followed by more and more complex subjects within the discipline. We believe we can introduce beginners to the chosen subject and then bring them up to speed. We will be including some Adobe products such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Touch, Illustrator, InDesign, or Dreamweaver. Our first discipline will be Photography with three meetings (August 21, September 18, and October 16) lasting two and a half hours (6:00 until 8:30). These are free meetings that will be held at Manchester Community College. You don't have to be a regular member of the Manchester Adobe User Group to attend. August 21 ... What is a Camera - We will look at all of the elements that make up a Camera. How to operate your Camera - Please bring your camera (cell phone, tablet, point & shoot, DLSR). If you have more than one camera, bring them all. For cell phones & tablets, we will recommend specific Apps for taking photos. For the other cameras we will show you how to improve your photos by getting you out of the habit of using "Auto" for taking all of your images; using Scene Modes and other settings on the dial. September 18 ... Getting it right in the camera- Aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, Exposure Compensation, White Balance, Flash. What makes an outstanding photograph- Introduction to Composition. Depth of Field. Moving subjects, Telephoto, Macro. Post Processing - Loading Images into your Computer. Metadata. Histograms. What is this thing Called "RAW"? October 16 ... Common Image processing elements - Global adjustments, Selection tools, Layers , Blending & Opacity, Local Adjustments, Healing & Cloning, Masks. Introduction to Photo Processing Applications - Lightroom, Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Touch. Snapseed This workshop series will be presented by Kent Messamore. Kent has an extensive background in both Photoshop and Lightroom. He started in the early days of Photoshop (1991). His images have received awards in local, regional, and international competition. He has taught computers, studio lighting, model posing, Lighting with Flash, and photo imaging, extensively at workshops for Camera Clubs, Studios, and Meetup Groups in the local area. • May Manchester Adobe User Group Meeting ...
Most of you are aware that we had to cancel our April meetup due to a family emergency. This month we're meeting one week late, but Penny will be doing the presentation that she had planned for that evening. The presentation will be based on PhotoShop 3D and Animation techniques. We may be able to get into one of the computer labs for the meeting so that it can be "hands-on", so look for signs directing you to the meeting location when you arrive. Hope you can all join us!
