"Thankful" labyrinth walk @ Millbrook Baptist Church

Please note that this is an afternoon event to synch between MBC's morning services and their second-Sunday labyrinth walk that begins at 5:00PM.

Since we're coming up on Thanksgiving I thought that it would be helpful to get a jump start on thankfulness ... to help focus on the true meaning of Thanksgiving in a contemplative way before heading off to family, food and football games.

I'll spend the first 15 minutes giving a labyrinth overview (the significance, meaning, design, and how-to of labyrinths), then we'll step onto the labyrinth for a thankful walk.  Walking in we'll release - letting go of thoughts/feelings that may be clogging our minds; at the center we'll stand/sit in silence contemplating on all of our individual thankfuls for the year; then walking out we'll be reflecting on how we can take our new frames-of-mind back out into the world (e.g., setting intention on how to do Thanksgiving different to imbue it with more meaning and connection).  More about all of this when we meet.  And like always, if you want/need to walk the labyrinth differently that's up to you.

Plan on ~ 1.5 hours for the walk, including journaling time afterwards (e.g., you may want to write down several thankfuls that you then reread to yourself/others on Thanksgiving day).

We had a wonderful, sunny, warm, and windy day for a walk. Most of us walked in bare feet, and we went in and out of sun/shade and its related warm/cool as we walked the labyrinth. When the wind kicked in we had our own private leaf storm. All of us spent time in the center "rose" focusing on our thankfuls for the year gone by ... the calm and serenity felt was palpable.

Really sorry to miss this one but just returned from a trip where I hurt my leg and am not good to walk. Looking forward to next time.

Hi Pat - I hope your leg heals (and stays healed) ... it's been a long, long time since you've been on one of our walks ... it would be good to see you again.

There's a chance I won't make it here on time, so I'm going to take myself off the attendee list for now and will jump back on if it looks like I can get there.

Hi Kat - It looks like there will be some open spots for tomorrow's labyrinth walk, so if at the last minute you can make it you can just show up.

Tomorrow's labyrinth walk should be with sunny skies and warm temperatures - perfect for those of us who enjoy walking in bare feet to feel even more grounded!
