ipad v android

Jack’s right: the OS for apple is entirely different from the android’s, and there’s precious little cross platform cooperation.

Kinda like Congress.

The only reason I had for acquiring a tablet was to access some of the aviation apps: in particular, Foreflight.  But inet searches alerted me to the fact that it was a proprietary program.  So, to be sure, I went to the source.

I called Foreflight.

The Foreflight folks told me they’re dedicated to providing high quality software, and, since they’re a small company, they feel they can best manage that by working with only one platform.  Ergo: Foreflight DOES NOT OPERATE on any OS other than apple’s iOS.

So

I went apple.

The android line is excellent, and may support some of the other pilots’ apps; I haven’t researched them so I don’t know.  But if there’s a particular program you’re ‘jonesing’ for, it might be a good idea to make sure the tablet you’re considering will support it.

just sayin’

JC

Frank,

Android tablets like the ones in the article are not "i-pad clones" by any means.

They run a different operating system and take different software.  Many of the most popular iPad/iPhone apps are not available on Android, and vice/versa.

There is nothing wrong with Android, however, as long as the apps you like are available.

Jack

Hi Guys,  here is an interesting article for anyone considering buying a tablet.  Anyone heard of this new i-pad clone?  Also click on some of the links near the end of the article for other
interesting stuff.  Frank the Hitchhiker.
