My son just asked me why
that, when flying in formation with another airplane, I always prefer the
position of wingman, and regardless of the speed capability of the other
aircraft, I always approach from behind & lower.
I’m realizing... I’m
wondering if any of you can figure out why... (besides the fact that I don’t
trust any of you...lol) because there certainly is another very good
reason.
So give this some
thought...
Other
than visibility, what is the inherent safety advantage of the wingman being
lower & behind the lead aircraft?
(please don’t just
shoot from the hip on this one... its not really that hard to figure
out)
