The ride will leave promptly at 11:00. Please arrive with tires pumped and be ready to ride. It is approximately 27 miles round trip and we will average about 11-12 MPH. This will be a group ride so the expectation is for the group to wait for those who get too far behind. Expect some hills!
Spring Lake Park Reserve has been called the "hidden jewel" of the Upper Mississippi. The trail snakes in and out of woods and along open spaces before finally turning toward the top of the bluffs high above the river. We will then start on the Hastings 10-Mile Scenic Circuit which has a variety of landscapes which means you can see prairie land, wooded areas, multiple riverside views, and even an urban waterfall at the Vermillion Falls. This trail takes us across the River Dike Trail to Lock and Dam #2 and meanders along the river until we get to Hastings. We will have a lunch stop at the Lock And Dam Eatery. https://www.lockanddameatery.com/
The bike tour continues through town and then along the Vermillion River where we will stop at the River Gorge Bridge and Falls. We will then continue on a 3.5 mile leg to Alexis Bailey Vineyards http://www.abvwines.com/ We then reconnect back onto the Hastings Circuit trail to head back to our cars.
This is not a rain or shine event. In case of cancellation due to bad weather an email will be sent few hours before the start time to all who have RSVP-ed. So, please RSVP.
