The ride starts on the Bruce Vento trail in St. Paul at 588 E. 7th St. We will leave promptly at 11:00, so please arrive with tires pumped and ready to ride.
We will ride the Bruce Vento Trail through historic Swede Hollow, under the shadows of the Hamm's Brewery (brewery #1), then along the shores of Lake Phalen where we will meet the Gateway Trail. The Gateway will take us to the Brown's Creek Trail and into Stillwater.
In Stillwater we will take a well deserved break at the Maple Island Brewery (http://mapleislandbrewing.com/) (brewery #2), where we will enjoy a cold draft brew and some food before we head back. Not into craft beer? No problem, right next door is the Northern Vineyards Winery (https://www.northernvineyards.com/), and PD Pappy's (https://www.pdpappysonline.com/) is just a block north. When refreshed, we will follow the same trails back to St. Paul.
This ride will be at your own pace, as the ride is basically out and back. For those that would like a faster pace, feel free to break from the group, but watch for the trail junctions, as you will be on your own. That said, someone will be at each trail junction to be sure our leisurely riders will not miss a turn and be left behind.
The round trip from the St. Paul start to Maple Island and back is about 41 miles. A bit much? No problem. Our route will take us past No. St. Paul's Rotary Park where we will stop for a short break. You can join the group there.(https://www.google.com/maps/place/Rotary+Park,+Gateway+State+Trail,+North+St+Paul,+MNemail@example.com,-93.0011292,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x52b2d3bc2306f879:0x5b8c586ce2d98282!8m2!3d45.0117537!4d-92.9994487?hl=en).
It will take the riders from St. Paul about 40 minutes to ride to the park, so be ready to depart the park by 12:00 noon. Its about 12 miles from Rotary Park to the Maple Island Brewery. We will stop to regroup at the junction with the Brown's Creek Trail.
What about that 3rd brewery you ask? Well, those riders who began in St. Paul will enjoy a 7 mile downhill run from Rotary Park to our parking lot. St. Paul Brewing (https://www.stpaulbrewing.com), located in the old Hamm's Brewery, is just a short 2 minute car ride away. The address is 688 E. Minnehaha Ave.
For those who end their ride at Rotary Park and want to enjoy a beer on the brewery's great patio, no problem. The brewery is just a short 6 mile (15 =/-minutes) drive from Rotary Park. You should get there about 20 minutes before the rest of the riders. Here are the directions.(https://www.google.com/maps/place/688+Minnehaha+Ave+E,+St+Paul,+MNfirstname.lastname@example.org,-93.0738475,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x52b2d533bf7c0a55:0x3fe9eefb5b1e212a!8m2!3d44.9627463!4d-93.0716588).
