What we're about

Overview
We are one of over 1,500 chapters of International MOMS Club® (www.momsclub.org). MOMS Club® (MOMS Offering Moms Support) is an international, non-denominational, non-profit organization for full and part time stay-at-home moms, and our goal is to provide mutual support while growing and learning as parents, building lasting friendships and having fun with our kids. We meet during the day and offer a variety of programs and activities each month such as playgroups, field trips, service projects, Moms Nights Out and much more. It’s a wonderful way for you to meet and support other local moms. MOMS Club® welcomes moms of all religious, ethnic, or political backgrounds and views, and we’d love to have you join us!
History
The MOMS Club® began in 1983 when Mary James, an at-home mother in California, decided she was tired of being alone at home. She wanted to meet other at-home mothers and she wanted to find other at-home children for her children to play with. When she discovered there were no other organizations that met during the day and allowed her to come with her baby and preschooler, she decided to start a brand new organization just for at-home mothers, and the MOMS Club® was born.
The chapter she started was so successful that she knew mothers in other areas must need support too. Soon she and other volunteers were helping mothers start clubs across the country and around the world! There are now 1,500+ chapters in the US alone and over 100,000 members!
The MOMS Club® of Germantown, WI chapter was founded in 2002. Since then, the chapter grew substantially, and in 2005 we divided our chapter into Germantown – East and Germantown – West, with the division being Pilgrim Road.
Activities

The MOMS Club® of Germantown, WI - East chapter plans a wide variety of activities, generally scheduling approximately two activities per week, many of which are low cost or free of charge.

Any member is welcome to join in any activity or event, and you can choose to participate in as many or as few activities as you like. Below are some activities we enjoy.

-Playgroups

The chapter is broken down into smaller playgroups that meet on a monthly basis in addition to the Club’s scheduled activities. The smaller group setting allows moms to socialize in a park or home setting and gives kids time for open play and making new friends.

-Potlucks

Mother’s Day, 1st day of school, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick’s Day, seasonal brunches and more give us time to share our favorite dishes among friends.

Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, Christmas and more - we celebrate with food and decorations, crafts and games to get everyone in the holiday spirit.

-Moms Nights Out

-Club News Meetings

Once a month we hold a chapter-wide business meeting to discuss and vote on upcoming events. We often have an educational speaker on topics of interest to our members. This is a great time to talk with other moms and get involved in determining the future direction of the chapter.

Local business and unique group tours such as grocery stores, restaurants, fire/police stations, dentist office, Brewers stadium, green houses and nature centers

Indoor play such as gymnastics, trampoline parks, inflatable playgrounds and others

Fieldtrips to area farms, museums, gardens, the zoo, children’s theater and more

Service

In addition to supporting each other, the MOMS Club® of Germantown, WI - East also supports the community. As a non-profit organization, we are actively involved in supporting local charities; in particular ones that benefit moms and kids in need, by doing service projects and participating in charitable events. Our recent service has included several collection drives such as Condella's Coats for Kids, Toys for Tots, pajamas, socks, underwear, and summer survival items for Our Kids Closet, and more. We also make monetary contributions to sponsor local children’s recreation sports leagues to subsidize the cost for participants. Over the respective holidays we look forward to putting on a Halloween costume parade and craft session and singing Christmas carols at a local nursing home. In the spring we prepare for the city's annual Easter egg hunt by sorting, matching and stuffing the Easter eggs. We have also historically put on a preschool open house to make it easy for moms to research which preschool is right for their child. We’re always looking for new ways to dedicate our time and resources to the community in ways that interest our members and benefit other local moms and children.

Also, as part of our service and support for each other, our chapter has established a Sunshine Club. The Sunshine Club steps in when one of our members needs a little "sunshine" from her friends, due to the birth of a new baby, illness in the family or other crisis. The Sunshine Club can provide meals, childcare, or other assistance as needed when one of our members needs a hand.

Membership

Prospective members are invited to attend up to two public events (such as chapter meetings or park play dates) before deciding to join.
