The Ides of March

NETLIGHT offered to host our March Meetup again, which proved to be an excellent location.

We will have  a focus on privacy enhancing technology. Ralph and I will prepare a few slides to guide our discussion, but there will be no formal talk as such.

We will also have a Key-Signing Party. If you are a GPG/PGP user, bring along your key information preferably on paper (you'll need 20-30 snippets of paper) and ID in case someone wants to check it. If you are not a GPG/PGP user, bring your laptop and we'll try to help you get started, though note that you can't use GPG/PGP with webmail.

Lastly, we are filling up quickly, so get your RSVP's in soon!

    Despite the lack of speakers (hint, hint), a really nice meetup with much catching up and discussion. :)

    So many subject to cover, so little time. It just goes to show that privacy is difficult. Perhaps impossible.

      I suspect "privacy" is like security: it's a matter for risk management. If this is really a topic of interest, perhaps we could analyze it more systematically. And, since there is such a broad set of skills in the group, perhaps we could realistically come out with a set of software/behavior recommendations along with known, accepted risk.

    The Netlight office is just in front of Louis Vuitton - enter the building, pass by the first staircase, pass by the interior courtyard and take the second staircase up to the last floor (there is no elevator).

    From UBahn Marienplatz exit H (Marienhof) is the closest

    <blasphemy>
    Honestly, I don't see any practical value in signing pgp keys.

    I just updated the description. If you have one, bring your GPG/PGP key for signing!

    Hi all, we don't seem to have a speaker, but we do have a focus on privacy enhancing technology. If we can't find an actual speaker, I'd say we'll make this into a Key Signing Party and a discussion of such technologies.
    But if you are aware of a good speaker who's currently in town, please let us know asap.

    Hello Ralph, the SZ had an interview with Constanze Kurz on the WE. She hinted on a whole bag of best practises to protect your web presence (encryption, internet activity etc). Would anybody be interested to discuss some kind of How-To if you set up your own small business or just want to be on the safe side for your private life?

      The pros&cons regarding external email hosting are interesting to mention during such a topic; furthermore, is "secure messaging" worth looking into?

      Does anyone know about this new protocol, Pond, by Adam Langley and can tell us something about it?

    It would be great if we could also exchange PGP keys, we have been postponing that for some time ;)

    Dear sweet people, has anyone so far volunteered to give a talk? Or do you maybe have any expectations, things that you would like to see, discuss, etc?
