Stewardship Saturday - Rivercane Restoration

  • to
  • Alexander Lakes parking area

Intersection of Flatbridge Road and Alexander Lake Road, Stockbridge , GA (map)

    33.631950 -84.146866

  • Meet at Alexander Lake Area Parking Lot.
  • Join us as we partner with the South River Watershed Alliance to help clean-up and restore native vegetation to the bank of the South River. Wear work shoes that you don't mind getting muddy and long pants. Don't forget gloves, a water bottle, and snacks too. Meet at Alexander Lake Area Parking Lot. Registration in advance required. I have reserved 10 spots for our group. The first step is to remove invasive plants and litter from the bank, so bring your determination and a can-do attitude! In the spring we will transplant native River Cane into the area to help stop erosion. Dates are subject to change based on weather.

We will carpool from Macon, for those interested. I'll post details later.

I might drag the kayak up and go for a look around after the work is done. But I'll follow you.

Pick, shovels? Power tools? Dynamite even? Kayak for collecting from the water side?

Wow! You could do some serious cleanup and fixup with that kind of equipment. While I do think it would be a "blast" to fire off some dynamite, all we need for this particular event are work shoes, work clothes, gloves, snacks and water. Glad you're joining us!
