What we're about

There are over a 100 different Meetup groups in Madison, but now there is FINALLY a group for those of us who are couples & like to enjoy this great city - with other couples. Once you are a couple, that doesn't mean you stop wanting to have fun or meet fun new people! Let's break away from the norm and have some fun!

We'll do things that enable us to socialize while having fun, like going out for dinner or drinks or coffee or brunch; taking in cultural events and tours; or enjoying musical entertainment at any number of great venues. Our city has so much to offer for those of us who are lucky enough to live here -- let's enjoy life and make new friends. We'll check out some new spots, some old spots, some active activities and some not-so active activities! No matter what we do we'll be sure to share a few drinks and whole bunch of laughs along the way!

PS. When we say “couple”... we mean any two people who are in a loving, committed relationship regardless of their sexual orientation.

We expect all members to show a photo of their couple next to their bio... so that we can recognize you at gatherings

Finally, we will expect members to RSVP to Meetups with a +1. In other words... to attend as a couple.

First festival of the summer... Waterfront

Yahara Place Park

This is a 2 day event and will be posted as two different Meetups. For the 29th time the Marquette Neighborhood Association is hard at work preparing two days of fun and just for you and your extra special friends as the Marquette Waterfront Festival approaches. Our most valued regulars and newcomers alike will for sure shake a few tail feathers upon the narrow swath of parched earth known as Yahara Place Park. But you do not have to be a dancer to take pleasure in this year’s fest that will occur on June 9th and 10th . This edition of the festival will include an impressive assortment of performers arrayed on our beautiful stage representing our neighborhood and diverse regions of the nation and the World. The music will be sensual and blissful and of course danceable and we even threw in a folk stage for the foot-tappers who are plentiful in our midst. Lots of old musical friends are anxious to come and entertain us and we’ve mixed in some hot-shot newcomers to keep us a bit nearer to the cutting edge. We ask that you lose yourself to the pure pleasure of the Waterfront and bask in the uplifting setting . Please come and make a commitment to this venerable neighborhood fundraiser for these hopefully delightful days. You won’t regret taking in the whole event in the therapeutic breeze at Lake Monona’s shore. The Waterfront Festival takes place in Yahara Place Park. Yahara Place Park is nestled on the northern shore of Lake Monona near where it meets the Yahara River just a couple of blocks from Williamson St., Schenk’s Corner, and the O’Keeffe/Marquette school complex. This is a very supportive residential area but please bus, walk or bike to the event if possible. There will be bike racks and a bike livery provided by the Bike Federation. We are very dependent on beverage sales to keep this event free. So please no carry-ins other than water. The event is handicapped-accessible and free to the general public. Also we would like you to leave your pets at home. The Waterfront Festival is an MNA event. It raises funds through corporate sponsorship, donations and concessions. Funds enable MNA to achieve our goals and mission. A link to the full schedule will be posted at a later date: http://marquette-neighborhood.org/festivals/waterfront-festival/
