Second Annual American Players Theatre Outing

Please join us for our second annual outing to American Players Theatre in Spring Green. The show is "Macbeth" in the "up the hill" outdoor theatre. Show time is 6:00 pm, but we will be meeting earlier to carpool from Middleton and have a pre-show picnic on APT's wooded grounds (see details below).

Attendees should purchase their own tickets from the box office -- our group is in aisle 6, row B if you'd like to get a seat nearby.

Please note that unlike our normal book group meetings, this is not a book discussion and there is no expectation that you will have read the play beforehand (although you probably read it in high school anyway).

We will meet at 3:00 pm in the parking lot of Monk's Bar and Grill in Middleton (8313 Murphy Dr, Middleton, WI 53562, near the Costco). We'll figure out carpool arrangements at that time. If it's before 3 pm and you don't find us outside Monk's, call or text Tim at[masked]. If it's after 3 pm and you don't find us outside Monk's, that means you arrived too late and we left without you (see next paragraph about meeting at the theater).

It takes about an hour or a little less to get to APT, so if you prefer to meet us at APT rather than carpooling, we should be there by about 4 pm. One of the many great things about APT is that there is minimal to no cell phone reception there. So if you're meeting us at APT, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way by walking around and looking for us. I will be bringing a small American flag and putting it on our picnic table, so look for the flag to find us. We'll be doing a potluck so please bring a dish to pass.

APT has a policy of never canceling shows in advance. As those who attended last year's APT trip can testify from experience, the show will go on even if there is a light rain or steady drizzle. We will be driving out to APT regardless of the weather, and if by chance the show gets rained out, we'll just deal with it.

The show starts at 6 pm and it is about 3 hours long, so I expect us to be back to Middleton sometime around 10:30 or 11 (it takes longer to get back because of the post-show traffic in the parking lot).
