looking for advice

Hello MadJSers,

I'm looking for advice on how to land my first job as a bona fide
javascript developer. You see I'm a Java developer with over 10 years
of programming experience that's done a tiny bit of javascript (mostly
jQuery stuff validating forms or making desktop apps more "mobile
friendly" by changing the buttons or styles depending on the screen
size). Nothing too hard core, but at least I can say I've done some
javascript development.

I'm wondering if there are companies in Madison willing to hire
someone like me as an intern or some kind of an apprentice. Maybe help
out on some short term project doing stuff other developers don't want
to bother with.

I see javascript development as the future and Java as the new
COBOL. My trouble seems that I feel like a fraud if I try to pass
myself off as javascript developer with X years of experience. I need
help on how to get that first gig.

thanks for any advice,
