Magento 1 to Magento 2 Code Migration

Simon Frost - Senior Magento Backend Developer at Vortex Commerce will deliver this session:

Many developers have invested a lot of time and energy in producing modules for Magento 1, however, Magento 2 is a very different platform and adapting our extensions to work on it is not a straightforward task. Is there any way we can migrate our modules to Magento 2, so we can protect our investment and avoid having to rewrite them from scratch?

In this talk I'll look at the ways this can be done. I'll start by covering the pros and cons of migrating your module, have a look at the theory, then I'll introduce some tools which have been developed by the Magento community and Magento themselves to help migrate M1 extensions to M2. Finally, I'll give a detailed run-down of Magento's own offering, how it works, how you can use it and the advantages and drawbacks of using it.

Also to finish with, Daniel Woolfson, Development Manager at PureNet will chair an informal discussion to walkthrough Magento community sites which we all have used to help us solve problems.   Magento Stack Exchange, magehero, etc.  Where do you go for coding answers?
