Hartford MakerSpace Show-n-Tell

Welcome to the MakeHartford Meetup.

We'll take advantage of this extra meeting, scheduled in error, to show a potentially NEW location for MakeHartford.

Wait a minute - Whats wrong with the Main Street location? Nothing at all! It's still on the table, but this other location is potentially EVEN BETTER!

See this blog post for more information:
http://www.makehartford.com/2013/07/31/possible-new-location/

To Get to the MeetUp:

We will be meeting in:

Butterworth Hall,
1265 Asylum Avenue, Hartford, CT

Best entrance is on Asylum as you round the bend. Park to the left of the parking lot. Butterworth Hall is right in front of you. Look for signs for The Entrepreneurial Center

We'll have green signage once you get inside.

Do not park in the Girard Street lot as the bridge is out and you will have to walk on the sidewalk to get over to us.Elizabeth Street ok, but you will have to walk up the hill towards Asylum.

This will be another Show-n-Tell event.
Go ahead and bring in your projects for show-n-tell or discussion. New and previously shown projects welcome. Well have some tables, chairs, a white board, and a projector set up to help discussion. Some light refreshments will be provided.

Please forward this invite to anyone you know who may be interested in joining this group.
See you there!

Great turnout for the tour of the cheaper/quicker location...I'm all for it. This will allow us to get started and have a great meeting place with ample parking while we're looking for the perfect, more "industrial" space that will allow for things like welding, and large-scale metal and wood-working.

I changed the venue to default to City Steam ( we can change that as necessary ) . I changed the date from 7/31 to 8/7 to reflect our new schedule (that we have already started) since skipping a meeting on our bi-weekly repeating schedule. We skipped 7/3 for a week was too near 7/4 holiday. Our new schedule is every other Wed. start 8/7. At some point We may change to another day of week but we will have to find consensus before changing continuity. I know Wed. is bad for some but no other days have great consensus (let us vote ?). So for now I leave this as it is... When we get the space this will be much easier since we will have more days in our own space!

Yes Chris R. this has a last minute change and opportunity that came after I wrote the above. Go with the new announcement . We may change next week but we need to work the new opportunity. Cheaper ... better ? Time to see is now.

I've seen the site....Nice office / meeting space with decent parking. Lots of potential for administrative offices. Collaboration with UHart school of engineering a plus. Downtown location still very appealing because of visibility. PR and community support will be greatly needed to get this off the ground. :-)

    What about parking?

    July 25, 2013

    • Marvin W.

Parking is free after 06:00 PM on Hartford's side streets.

    • Steve Y.

      Thanks Marvin.
Yes, Parking is free after 6 on all streets in Hartford, but parking over my Pratt, Main, or Church is going to be difficult because of the restaurants and The Stage.

Most of the Market side streets, like in between UCONN business and Constitution Plaza are totally empty at this hour as everyone working in the towers have gone home.
