Screenprinting with Marie :)

This week we're exploring the use of vinyl as a screen-printing mask/stencil.

Files are easy to set up using some very simple digital tools- all you need to bring is a couple of smart images ready to go on a USB (.jpg- or emailed prior to marie) AND some sheet material.

This time we'll play with some alternative materials such as natural timbers.

Material suggestions:

-ply off cuts

-mahogany, cedar walnut etc planks (typically a couple mm thick available from a hobby or craft store such as Gordon Harris or Maid on Marion)

-MDF (manageable A3 or A4 from spotlight or Gordon Harris)

-PINE

examples above (a natural timber with that lovely grain!) would make fantastic table or bench top serving plates or decorative wall hangings..or simply a wildly cool base material for other projects in your 'maker' studio such as furniture or jewelery.

As a class explore this awesome material and some savy digital processes that make screen-printing a breeze!!

Please remember to bring a basic hardboard sheet- something clean and flat you may already have lying about the shed or a bit of pine purchased from Bunnings or similar. And have that image ready on a USB or emailed prior to marie

costs: $40 p/person

I have some bit of kauri ply that i got for laser cutting, but it doesn't play friends with the laser apparently something to do with resin. So I have some nice cuts 600mm x 400mm, it's got a lovely wavy grain. If anyone wants a cut i can bring it along on thursday all i ask is what i paid which works out at $4.50 for a piece, just let me know here

Hi - will you be repeating the first screenprinting class? I am more inclined towards fabrics. And cant see a price - is this $40 as well? Keen to learn but with limited budget need to be a bit picky :)
