Knowvember - Simple introduction to programming

Knowvember - Casual beginners workshops on design, ICT and technology for teachers who like to get hands-on.

Every Friday in November we are going through simple and dependable activities that you can use in your classroom.  These workshops are designed for teachers of year 5-10. For beginners and the inquisitive who like to get hands-on with a project. We make sure that you leave with not only ideas but also something tangible too.

Only $75 + G.S.T

2:30pm - 4:30pm (Afterwards we can go to The Hop Garden next door for networking)

Limited to only 10 people per workshop, so book in quickly. We can supply laptops, but if you install any required software beforehand you are welcome to use your own laptop. Afternoon tea and coffee (roasted here) supplied.

Simple introduction to programming

You don't need to have done any programming before or know much maths, the only prerequisite is that you can use Lego and have pressed a button at least once in your life.  We will go through making a simple quiz show game using Scratch, an interactive video-art peice with and an interactive pick-a-path story using Powerpoint and Twine.

Having a basic understanding of programming allows you to demonstrate logic and put math into a less conceptual framework. It's also quite fun.
